ROAD TRIP 2006
Well, I'm sure many of you noticed my coverage of Texas State's bad-a** Football Season. Some of you may have also noticed Greg's Opinion coverage of his high school football team's road to a Champeenship. Well, come Fall 2006, you all may have two blogs boring you to death with Texas State football.
It turns out Trinity High's star QB Trevor Vittetoe has committed to Texas State. Looks like Greg wanted him at UH. But hey, this has the makings of a Blogger's road trip! TXST does play at Sam Houston this fall--just up the road!
Texas State finished #4 in the nation. They have one of THE best academic programs, as well as a first-class student-athlete academic success program (that I helped lay the foundation for during my days on the Hill). So, he'll be taken care of, and he'll come out a successful, productive citizen from Bobcat-land.
At 6-3, 195, he's small, compared to outgoing QB Barrick Nealy (6-5, 230). But Coach Bailiff should be able to bulk him up. I'm not expecting a QB controversy, as Chase Wasson is still available to the 'Cats and Vittetoe will grow into a starter. Barrick's got his blog going, too. He's in Hawai'i prepping to play in the Hula Bowl this week, along with All-American Fred Evans.
I never though TXST would have people going pro--ever! Just goes to show that good coaching and a good academic program makes for good, disciplined athletes.
