The Big Win: Alvarado earns 57%!

With 100% of the vote in, Maria Luisa Alvarado won almost 58% of the vote!
I'll be right back...

...OK. After doing a couple of victory laps around Kingwood, I have returned!
South Texas came through for Alvarado, where she was posting decisive victories. She earned over 14,000 votes in Webb County. Another 3,000-plus in Bexar; 9000 in Nueces; 15,000-plus in Hidalgo!; another 14,000-plus in El Paso. Smaller counties in South Texas had her getting over 70% of the vote--even over 80%.
The counties that missed out on supporting the winner were Harris (only 12,000 came out to vote) and Alvarado earned 5000-plus; Dallas was 60-40 for Grant; Tarrant was 57-43, but with only a few thousand voters; and Travis, which had a similar result with a little over 7000 voters turning out.
If these results are any indication, it seems that South Texas could be what will push Democrats over in November, if candidates campaign effectively. While Radnofsky's numbers improved a bit in some of these counties, she did not earn many decisive victories. Perhaps my post-primary advice to Radnofsky would have helped a little to assure a more decisive victory, as well as increased name recognition.
Nonetheless, we have a candidate for Lt. Governor! Now, it's time for Radnofsky, Bell and Alvarado and the rest of the Democratic ticket to work together to make Texas Blue!
