Do you have what it takes to be a 'merkin?

MSNBC has this Citizenship quiz to test your Americaness. Do you have what it takes to be a 'merkin? These questions are samples of those that appear on the Citizenship test. And guess what? These questions are as asked on the official United States Immigration and Naturalization Services Web site. Candidates are not given multiple choices in the naturalization interview, which is conducted orally.

In English or Spanish, if you know this stuff, you deserve to be an American! I doubt any of the Bushies or right-wingers could pass this test.

And PLEASE comment with your results. Don't be shy. Honesty is the best policy. Tell us the truth. I'll tell the truth, I fudged on two and scored a 90%. My sister, Sylvia scored a 100%! But she's been here longer than I have...much longer. (Note: "Been here" as in born and lived here longer).

100%--I teach college Government and represent persons who want to become citizens, so I'd better know it.

Only 85% :(

I missed something about right to bear arms, the one about the who selects the Supreme Court justices (I say I'm right, they are wrong) and the one about the naturalized citizen form.

And, I'm pretty sure I have "been here" (lived longer) than either you or your sister!

Good job, y'all. It just goes to show that some parts are easy and some parts might be a challenge--or better yet, confusing. But can we answer these questions without multiple choices?

Let's not go there. It just goes to show that this test is not an apple pie, hot dogs and baseball test. (or Nascar, for some.)
