Justice
I've been watching some of the idiots on Fox News and Court TV--Nancy Grace, in particular--as well as comments from people in the DA's office, including Chucky Rosenthal. It's a great day when overzealous, unfeeling prosecutors and side-show "legal" freaks are handed a huge loss; especially when the "winner" gets the help she so much needs.
That's what this trial was about. Let's face it, the last kind of person our mental health program-less state prisons need is someone in need of intensive therapy. And let's face another fact: Other than sending people to prison as punishment (certainly not for rehabilitation), why else do we send them there? To protect the citizenry, right? Andrea Yates is not a threat to society, and anyone who believes that is as insane as the prosecutors.
Talk about mental illness, those prosecutors are in need of "happy pills" if they insist on wasting tax dollars on overpriced "mental" hacks like Dietz ($150,000 this time around, if I heard correctly).
So, while Rosenthal, Williford, Ownby, Nancy Grace, and Fox News are left with a seething hate for anyone in need of help, those of us on the sane side can continue fighting for those in need.
Nothing is going to bring back those kids, and whether we like or not, the memory of this event will be with us forever. Nonetheless, the memories of those kids is best served by ensuring that their mother is well-taken care of so that she can achieve some sense of normality. (As if any of us are "normal"!)
