TRAUTMAN DETERMINED TO WALK EVERY PRECINCT

Diane Trautman, candidate for State Representative, has been conducting a grass roots campaign for the past several weeks by block walking the streets of District 127, including areas of Atascocita, Crosby, Highlands, and Channelview. Any given Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon from now until Election Day in November, Trautman and members of her campaign team can be spotted making the rounds of the local neighborhoods. Future walks will include the above areas as well as Kingwood and Huffman.

“My goal is to touch base with as many of my future constituents as possible in every one of the thirty-five precincts that comprise the 127^th, to find out what their concerns and issues really are so that they may be better served in Austin,” said Trautman. “I have been overwhelmed by the positive reception I have received in each neighborhood. One man told me no one has personally campaigned in his neighborhood since he lived in Houston ten years ago. Most don’t even know the name of my opponent. I think it is so important for a legislator to address the needs and concerns of citizens at the community level—face to face, which Rep. Crabb has failed to do.“

Most people are genuinely eager to voice their concerns and appreciate the interest in their welfare. They are quick to offer a cold drink or wet towel. Many agree to display either a yard sign on their front lawns or bumper stickers on their cars. “The last thing we want to do is to intrude on anyone’s weekend or argue with their beliefs, but I do want people to know my stands on the issues, that I am listening to their concerns and that they have a clear choice in electing their state representative,” stated Trautman.
