Taking on Ignorance
I got an ignorant comment regarding the "70 Democrats" in Kingwood. Of course, I chose not to publish it, but I decided to post some facts, just to piss them off! Does Kingwood matter to Democrats?
First of all, thanks for the compliment! Usually, we're told we only have 3 Democrats in Kingwood! So, 70...wow! People are noticing we're improving!! What a compliment!!!
In reality, if we take a count by Texas House districts, one will find that over 17,000 folks voted for John Kerry in 2004 in District 127 (which contains Kingwood and Atascocita as the voter strongholds). If you take a couple of Democratic strongholds inside the loop, one will find one with a little over 17,000 votes for Kerry and almost 11,000 votes in another Democratic stronghold. In this case, stronghold means almost 60% of the vote for Kerry. If we take a similarly Republican House district in another part of Harris County, one will find that over 18,000 voted for Kerry. So, I guess we're proving that the suburbs matter to Democrats!
Now, one can take into consideration the low voter turnouts in the count in the inner loop district, and that's fine. While Democrats comprised 27% of the vote in 127, we still had over 17,000. But the bottom line is that District 127 still provided about 5% of the total vote count for Kerry in Harris County. Considering we have 25 Texas House districts in the county, and an average of 19,034 votes for Kerry per House district, well, we're not doing so bad, huh?
Whether the "anonymous" commenter is a Republican or some useless, hateful little Democrat, one thing is true--the commenter is just plain ignorant!
Update: To the commenter, I hear ya knockin', but you can't come in. Pendejo!

The ignorant commentator is probably sitting with their head on a bar wondering where the beer nuts went and constantly yelling out "Why the hell not?".
wow, as an inner looper (is that a word?) I'm ashamed that you can get more Democrats to the voting booth than we can in a "democratic" district. Maybe I should move to the suburbs? At least the voters are more motivated out there.
