Thoughts on Viernes...Cinco de Mayo 07

Marisa Tomei on the Brain
For some reason, I have Marisa Tomei on my mind. It will be difficult to express my thoughts. Anyway...

Feliz Cinco de Mayo--Learn, then Drink!
First, read the History. Then celebrate! I'll be at happy hour at Azteca Grill on Richmond and Greenbriar (5PM). The BEST margs in Houston...I'm serious! (Bloggers, no wi-fi, sorry!)

Senator Returns to Block Voter Suppression Bill
Sen. Mario Gallegos was able to return to the Texas Senate to ensure that 11 Democrats were available to block the targeted Republican Voter Suppression Bill. No vote was taken, which really isn't fair, considering Gallegos put himself at risk. Pinche Dewhurst!

Under what?
The Texas House voted 124 to 5 to put the phrase, "under God" in the Texas pledge. Well, I only pledge allegiance to one country and that's the United States of America. My ancestors were in Tejas before the pledge was written, so I don't have to say it. So there!

Again, the 'burbs can't stay out!
Now the 'burbs are whining about a desk! I was reading the article about City Hall's $37,000 welcome desk and started laughing hysterically when some dude from Spring was quoted complaining about the desk. I agree with the purchase. If we want to preserve historic buildings, then there's a cost to it. And if you're going to do it, do it right. Otherwise, just knock the building down and build a high-rise so that you can buy the cheap modular furniture to match it.

Michael Berry Doesn't Like Dos Centavos?
Well, he didn't say. McGruff interviewed Berry and I read it with interest to see if he went off on anything, like immigrants or Spanish or something nutty. Nope. It was just a boring ME-ME-ME interview. He did say he liked one particular progressive blog (cough-Kuff-cough!).
