DC Endorses in Local Contested Races
190th Civil District Court--Bruce Mosier
We have a special opportunity in this Democratic Primary--to elect a highly experienced attorney to the civil bench. Bruce Mosier offers over 40 years of experience with various certifications. He has been an advocate for homeowners, and he has also served our County Attorneys office. As a Democrat, he has served the Party in various capacities, but no position has been so important than that of Democratic candidate for Judge. When it wasn't "cool" to run for Judge as a Democrat, Bruce Mosier was there leading the charge attempting to unseat those in power. He ran serious campaigns, he would come close, and he would gain a reputation for representing our ballot well. Now, I say it is still Bruce's turn. He has earned it as a professional, and he has earned it as an activist. He is endorsed by the leading organizations in Harris County, and more importantly, he has the respect of peers, Democratic officeholders, and fellow activists. Join me in supporting Bruce Mosier for the 190th District Court.
351st Criminal District Court--Mekisha Murray
Mekisha Murray will be a strong candidate who can win in November. Working for the nomination since Day One, Murray has gained the endorsements and support from: Harris County AFL-CIO Council, Harris County Deputies Organization, Harris County Democrats, Mexican American Bar Association, Gordon Quan, Former City Council Member, Peter Brown, City Council Member, Ronald Green, City Council Member, Kevin J. Hoffman, President, Heights Democratic Club, P.O.L.I.C.E., INC. (Police Officers Looking into Courtroom Excellence), Houston Federation of Teachers Local 2415, and Houston Black American Democrats. I believe Murray is committed to offering fairness and justice to all who make their way through the criminal justice system, while being smart on crime. Mekisha Murray deserves the vote and support of Democratic Primary voters.
80th Civil District Court--Larry Weiman
Since 2006, I've gotten to know Larry, and most of all, he has earned my trust in his abilities to serve as a good candidate, and work as a candidate. In 2006, he stepped up to run for the unexpired term against a well-funded Republican and came up two points short of the bench. The foundation he has laid has earned him a second try at this post. Larry is a committed and proven Democrat, while both of his opponents have voted in Republican primaries, but have chosen to run as Democrats because now, it's considered fashionable. As far as Democratic credentials go, Larry has proven himself. Larry Weiman proved he has the experience and temperament enough to have earned the endorsement of the Houston Chronicle. He had my vote in 2006, and he has earned my vote in 2008. Support and Vote for Larry Weiman--a proven Democrat.
215th District Court--Fred Cook
This is probably the race that many Democrats I know are having a hard time deciding whom to support. Both Fred Cook and Steven Kirkland are strong Democrats, each with their own skill set. But as someone who has navigated through the civil court system at one time or another, I believe that Fred Cook is best qualified to serve in this position as he offers 25 years of experience as a civil litigator. In the community, Fred has served his community well, and as a Democrat, he has worked as a precinct chair and activist. During a time in which justice is scarce in the Harris County civil courts, Fred Cook is a candidate who, once elected, will hit the ground running, ensuring that justice is served. Vote for Fred Cook for the 215th District Court.
