Comm. Garcia Votes Against Racist's Plane
County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia was the lone vote against a donation of a local radio bigot's plane.
``I think this whole idea is still half baked,'' she said.
The bigot, Edd Hendee (two D's? Really!), donated the plane, but had made a stipulation that the plane be loaned out to the Border Sheriff's coalition. That's didn't fly with the Court, so it'll be used for local crime fighting.
Still, the $200,000 annual operating costs could go to better use of police resources...like gasoline, perhaps some ground intelligence resources. A doubt a little single engine Cessna-like plane is going to break up local gangs.
I'm just saying...
Another example of high-cost boondoggles for a low-performing, unethical Sheriff.
And it must be mentioned again...Commissioner Garcia's crews were out and about clearing debris all over her precinct, especially out in Crosby, where my boss Joe Montemayor lives.
